About the role
- Firmware Developer building embedded systems for Wesko Locks’ electronic locking products. Developing C/RTOS firmware and integrating connectivity, sensors, and hardware.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for electronic locking products
- Develop firmware for microcontroller-based systems using C and RTOS environments
- Implement and support I2C, SPI, UART, BLE, and Wi-Fi communication protocols
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve firmware issues through root cause analysis
- Collaborate with hardware and engineering teams throughout product development
- Integrate firmware with sensors, peripherals, and communication modules
- Support product validation, testing, and verification activities
- Assist with firmware releases, updates, and technical documentation
- Provide technical support to production and other internal teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and new product development
- Perform additional duties as required
Requirements
- 5–7 years of embedded firmware or software development experience
- Post-secondary education in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
- Strong proficiency in C programming
- Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller-based products
- Knowledge of I2C, SPI, and UART communication interfaces
- Experience with BLE and Wi-Fi wireless technologies
- Familiarity with RTOS, Git, and development tools
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Occasional travel up to 10% may be required
- Available to work occasional additional hours based on business needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
