About the role

Senior manager building Rio Tinto’s global mining and materials ethics and compliance assurance capability. Leading governance, reporting, controls, analytics and a global multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Set the strategy, priorities and operating model for Ethics & Compliance Assurance, Governance and Reporting, including the Group learning and communications strategy
Design, plan and execute an integrated second-line ethics and compliance assurance programme and framework
Provide appropriate coverage of Material Risk Profiles in collaboration with Group Risk & Insurance and Group Internal Audit
Lead the ethics and compliance approach to Group Bowtie design, Critical Controls monitoring measures, control documentation and management
Develop risk-based monitoring and analytics approaches
Evaluate, monitor and report relevant Principal Risks and support Mandatory Risk Governance Forums
Design and implement governance architecture for ethics and compliance elements of the Enterprise Compliance Standard and contributions to the Code of Conduct
Deliver evidence-based reporting and insight to senior ethics and compliance leadership, executive committees, audit and risk committees, and other governance forums
Identify trends, root causes and emerging risks
Build and lead a diverse global team
Shape risk-based, persona-led ethics and compliance learning and communications
Govern ethics and compliance data, reporting and enabling systems with process owners and Information Systems & Technology
Promote appropriate use of automation, analytics and approved artificial intelligence
Drive effective use of enterprise assurance tools including Signavio and Workiva

A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
Demonstrated capability designing and operating second-line assurance frameworks, assessing control design and operating effectiveness, and applying the Three Lines model, enterprise risk management and policy or standards governance
Senior leadership experience delivering governance, assurance, reporting or compliance programmes in complex multinational organisations, including evidence-based reporting for executive and Board-level governance forums
Proven experience leading global, multidisciplinary teams and integrating priorities across senior stakeholders, with an inclusive approach that supports wellbeing, psychological safety and accountability
A relevant qualification in compliance, risk, audit, law, finance, governance, data or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience
Strong analytical and technology awareness, with experience using data and enabling systems to support assurance, reporting and continuous improvement while maintaining appropriate governance and human accountability
For the role based in the province of Quebec, fluency in French and English, both written and spoken
Relevant professional accreditation in compliance, risk, audit, law, finance, governance or a related discipline
Experience with enterprise assurance, process or reporting tools such as Signavio and Workiva, and with risk-based learning and communications programmes across regions and time zones
