About the role
- Field Service Mechanical Engineer maintaining turbomachinery for Baker Hughes energy customers. Leading installation, commissioning, inspections, troubleshooting, and overhauls at customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Execute installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and maintenance of rotating equipment and associated auxiliaries
- Perform precision mechanical tasks including alignment, leveling, torquing, dimensional checks, and assembly/disassembly
- Diagnose mechanical issues and collaborate with technical support teams to define corrective actions
- Lead customer communication, site planning, daily coordination, and supervision of craft labor/subcontractors
- Prepare Field Service Reports, daily logs, punch lists, and technical documentation
- Ensure compliance with QHSE requirements, JSAs, toolbox talks, LOTO, and Permit-to-Work processes
- Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, alignment, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and overhauls for compressors, gas turbines, and steam turbines
- Work as the on-site technical lead at customer sites across oilfield, power generation, and industrial facilities
Requirements
- Technical diploma
- At least five years of field experience with gas turbines, compressors, or other rotating equipment performing installation, inspections, or maintenance
- Specialization in one or more compressor, heavy-duty gas turbine, aeroderivative gas turbine, or steam turbine technologies
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and follow OEM procedures
- Proficiency with precision tools including laser alignment, borescope, micrometers, and dial indicators
- Experience executing upgrades, NICs/TILs, or mechanical modifications
- Strong customer service, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to work independently, analyze complex issues, and provide technical leadership with minimal supervision
- Strong Health, Safety and Environmental mindset and commitment to quality standards
- Willingness and ability to travel at least 70%, including internationally and offshore, without geographical restrictions
- Current or previous TWIC card or eligibility to obtain one
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering
- Preferred familiarity with optical or laser alignment systems, basic electrical testing, or in-situ winding repairs and rewinds
