About the role
- Construction Manager leading BHP’s Jansen Stage 2 potash mine construction. Overseeing contracts, site execution, safety, risk, interfaces, and project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior leadership to the Jansen Stage 2 Project Owner’s Team
- Develop and implement the construction strategy
- Execute construction contracts and ensure safe site delivery
- Oversee contract delivery at the Jansen site and act as the primary site-based representative for the Owner
- Ensure safe management and delivery of JS2 construction contracts and associated site common services throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide construction assurance for module fabrication in the Edmonton area
- Lead the site team in accordance with BHP standards and BHP Operating System behaviors and ways of working
- Monitor and manage site execution performance against safety standards, budget, and scope
- Establish and deliver the JS2 Construction Risk Management program
- Act as site line manager accountable for HSSE outcomes across the JS2 Construction program
- Develop and implement the Owner’s assurance program for construction execution
- Act as the Owner’s primary representative for the site ePCM execution strategy
- Manage key project interfaces and drive Project and Asset KPIs
- Define strategic objectives, identify critical activities, and monitor construction delivery through continuous improvement
- Capture and incorporate lessons learned from Jansen Stage 1
- Implement project work planning processes across Mining, Non-Process Infrastructure, and Process areas
- Provide strategic oversight of site contract execution and analysis to maximize operational and financial performance and mitigate risk
Requirements
- P. Eng or equivalent combination of education (University or Trades) and experience
- 20 years of Construction & Project Management experience primarily in Industrial and Mining Projects
- Experience in both Surface and Underground construction preferred
- Experience with Greenfield and Brownfield execution preferred
- Project delivery experience with interfaces across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Operations
- Ability to lead and implement an Owner’s Risk and HSS Safety program at the Jansen site
- Line responsibility for safe delivery of scope across Project Facilities
- Successful completion of applicable police/criminal background checks, medical, drug and alcohol testing, due diligence checks, right-to-work checks, and/or reference checks may be required
