About the role

  • Software Engineer in Test at Blackpoint building automated tests for cloud-based cybersecurity solutions. Collaborating with engineering teams to enhance software quality and resiliency.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automated test scripts and cases within existing frameworks to support testing of cybersecurity products.
  • Execute test plans across endpoint, cloud-based, and microservices-driven security solutions, escalating complex issues to senior engineers as needed.
  • Collaborate with developers and product teams to apply quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Support the integration of automated tests into existing CI/CD pipelines, following established team processes.
  • Identify, document, and track defects, and work with engineering teams to help drive them to resolution.
  • Contribute ideas for improving testing processes, frameworks, and tooling, and adopt best practices introduced by senior team members.
  • Use AI-powered engineering and testing tools introduced by the team to support automation development and defect detection.
  • Help identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation and intelligent tooling.
  • Provide clear, timely updates on testing progress and defect status to the immediate team.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, or a related technical role, with some exposure to test automation.
  • Working knowledge of automation frameworks and tools such as Playwright, JUnit, or TestNG, along with scripting/programming experience in TypeScript or Python.
  • Exposure to or interest in testing cybersecurity products, such as endpoint detection, threat detection, MDR/XDR, SIEM, or SOC platforms, is a plus.
  • Foundational understanding of CI/CD concepts; familiarity with tools such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Jenkins, and cloud environments such as AWS or Azure, Docker, or Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills and a willingness to ask questions and seek guidance from senior team members when needed.
  • Curiosity about applying AI-powered tools to testing and a genuine interest in learning new technologies.
  • Familiarity with Git and an interest in developing TDD and BDD skills.
  • Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and eagerness to learn and grow within the team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
