About the role

  • Product Owner at CanadaVisa Media overseeing product development for digital immigration tools. Collaborating with stakeholders and engineering to improve user experiences for newcomers to Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product backlog and priorities: Maintain a clear, actionable backlog; write user stories, acceptance criteria, and ensure the team always has the next best work lined up.
  • Lead discovery and define outcomes: Gather insights through user feedback, analytics, stakeholder input, and research; define problems, success metrics, and validate solutions before scaling.
  • Drive alignment across stakeholders: Collaborate with leadership, editorial, sales, support, and legal/professional services teams to balance needs and communicate decisions clearly.
  • Partner with engineering to deliver: Plan goals, clarify scope, unblock decisions quickly, and accept completed work against criteria while keeping quality and user experience high.
  • Measure performance and iterate: Define KPIs, monitor releases, learn from results, and continuously improve product performance, usability, and conversion/retention outcomes.
  • Champion user trust, privacy, and compliance: Ensure product requirements consider sensitive user data, consent, and safe handling of immigration-related information.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar product delivery role on a digital product
  • Strong ability to translate ambiguous problems into clear requirements, stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Comfort using data to make decisions (funnels, cohort retention, event tracking, A/B tests, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management—able to say “no” (or “not now”) with clarity and context
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineers and understanding technical trade-offs (you don’t need to code)
  • Experience in marketplaces, subscription products, content platforms, or high-traffic consumer web products (Nice to Have)
  • Familiarity with user research methods (interviews, surveys, usability testing) and experimentation (Nice to Have)
  • Background in regulated or trust-centric domains (legal, finance, healthcare) or handling sensitive user data (Nice to Have)
  • Experience with product tooling like Notion, Figma, GA4, Metabase, etc. (Nice to Have)
