About the role
- Database Administrator ensuring stability, performance, and security of SQL Server environments at Central 1. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing high-availability solutions.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain enterprise Microsoft SQL Server 2019 environments
- Manage high-availability solutions including Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize database infrastructure
- Manage backup and recovery strategies and conduct regular restore testing
- Administer DBMS security including role-based access control
- Support release, change, and patch management processes
- Proactively monitor and tune database performance using various tools
- Collaborate with Architecture to evaluate SQL Server version upgrade paths
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 7+ years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience in an enterprise production environment
- Deep expertise in SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery technologies
- Strong experience with query performance tuning and optimization using various tools
- Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft Azure database services
- Proficiency in T-SQL script development for administrative automation
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for DBA task automation
- Solid understanding of SQL Server security models and compliance
- Proven experience managing database backup and recovery strategies
- Experience supporting database release and change management processes
- Strong communication skills and willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
