About the role

  • Senior Product Designer shaping onboarding and activation for Clio’s legal AI platform. Designing first-120-day customer journeys, in-product guidance, and internal migration tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design of onboarding and activation experiences from day one through the first 120 days across Clio products
  • Map customer journeys covering initial setup, first value, team adoption, habit formation, and product discovery
  • Design onboarding paths for different firm types, roles, and customer value paths
  • Identify customer success and drop-off points and use findings to drive design decisions
  • Design and ship checklists, empty states, contextual tooltips, progress indicators, and in-app guidance
  • Create product-discovery surfaces for products customers already have access to
  • Concept, prototype, and present solutions addressing business and user problems
  • Partner with Product to define activation milestones and design experiences that move customers toward them
  • Use cohort analysis, funnel metrics, and time-to-milestone data to guide and evaluate design decisions
  • Research and design internal tooling for Onboarding Specialists and Data Migration teams
  • Improve manual, slow, or untracked onboarding and migration processes
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering to deliver clear, shippable solutions
  • Collaborate across Manage, Work, Grow, Payments, and Accounting product teams
  • Participate in team critiques, support fellow designers, articulate design rationale, and challenge assumptions

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in product design
  • SaaS or B2B product experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience designing onboarding, activation, or early lifecycle experiences in a B2B SaaS environment
  • Ability to design customer journeys across 30, 60, and 90 days
  • Experience designing for multi-role, multi-stakeholder products with different entry points and value paths
  • Track record of shipping products that solve customer problems and move company metrics
  • Proficiency in user research methodologies and translating findings into actionable design insights
  • Proficiency in modern design tools, including Figma and Figma Make
  • Comfort working with funnel data, cohort analysis, and time-to-milestone metrics
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
  • Strong understanding of interaction design, usability, visual design, and accessibility
  • Experience with design systems
  • Demonstrated experience transforming design craft using AI
  • Preferred: experience designing onboarding and activation journeys with concrete outcomes
  • Preferred: experience designing internal tooling for onboarding, implementation, or migration teams
  • Preferred: experience in legal tech, vertical SaaS, or professional services
  • Preferred: experience in a multi-product company
  • Preferred: familiarity with Pendo, Amplitude, Appcues, or similar tooling
  • Preferred: experience designing AI-assisted workflow, automation, or guidance features
