About the role

Junior Product Designer creating intuitive product experiences for Smile.io, a loyalty platform serving ecommerce brands. Supporting end-to-end design, design systems, marketing assets, and AI-assisted prototyping.

Responsibilities

Support the end-to-end design process for product features, from early concepts and user flows through prototypes and final visual design
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers to turn user needs and business goals into product experiences
Contribute to Smile’s design system by creating, refining, and maintaining reusable components and patterns
Support design needs across the website, social media, sales materials, and other marketing initiatives
Use AI tools throughout the design process, including turning designs into working prototypes
Create thoughtful, intuitive experiences for merchants and their customers
Work with a remote-first design team serving thousands of merchants and millions of shoppers worldwide

Internships, freelance work, and personal projects count as relevant experience
Portfolio projects must be shareable, such as a website, Figma file, or live project
Comfortable working in Figma
Strong foundation in visual design, layout, typography, and UX principles
Already using AI in design work or side projects, and excited to explore AI-assisted workflows
Willingness to collaborate, ask questions, receive feedback, and iterate
Curious, organized, and eager to develop product thinking and design skills
Ability to overlap significantly with existing team hours, 9 AM–3 PM EST
Must be based in Canada
Nice to have: SaaS, e-commerce, or digital product design experience
Nice to have: design systems experience
Nice to have: motion design, prototyping, or product interaction experience
Nice to have: remote or distributed team experience
Nice to have: front-end code or AI coding tools experience
