Responsibilities
- Build and grow an independent commercial insurance advisory business
- Partner with business owners, entrepreneurs, and organizations to understand risks
- Provide tailored commercial insurance and risk management solutions
- Prospect, network, and develop referral relationships
- Build and manage a profitable, sustainable commercial insurance portfolio
- Deliver proactive, advice-based service to strengthen client loyalty and retention
- Represent Co-operators professionally in the community
- Distribute Co-operators products under the Co-operators brand as an independent contractor
- Manage business activity, time, priorities, and sales pipeline
- Continuously develop expertise in commercial insurance, business risk, and market trends
Requirements
- Valid provincial general insurance license, or willingness to obtain one
- Meet ongoing licensing and continuing education requirements
- Experience in commercial or personal lines insurance
- Experience running your own business
- Background in financial services, banking, B2B sales, account management, or business development
- Experience in client-facing advisory or relationship-management roles
- Ability to build trusted relationships and convert them into sustainable business growth
- Strong sales and business-development mindset
- Comfort prospecting, networking, and creating opportunity
- Clear, confident communication
- Strong organization and disciplined follow-through
