About the role

  • Independent Commercial Insurance Advisor building client portfolios and risk-management solutions for Canadian businesses. Growing an autonomous advisory practice under Co-operators’ trusted national brand.

Responsibilities

  • Build and grow an independent commercial insurance advisory business
  • Partner with business owners, entrepreneurs, and organizations to understand risks
  • Provide tailored commercial insurance and risk management solutions
  • Prospect, network, and develop referral relationships
  • Build a profitable, sustainable commercial insurance portfolio
  • Deliver proactive, advice-based service to strengthen client loyalty and retention
  • Represent Co-operators professionally and distribute its products under the Co-operators brand
  • Operate an independent advisory practice as an independent contractor
  • Manage business activity, sales pipeline, time, priorities, and long-term client relationships

Requirements

  • Valid provincial general insurance license, or willingness to obtain one
  • Meet ongoing licensing and continuing education requirements
  • Experience in commercial or personal lines insurance, or relevant experience running your own business
  • Background in financial services, banking, B2B sales, account management, or business development
  • Experience in client-facing advisory or relationship-management roles
  • Ability to build trusted relationships and convert them into sustainable business growth
  • Strong sales and business-development mindset, including prospecting and networking
  • Clear, confident communication and strong organization
  • Disciplined follow-through, resilience, accountability, and self-motivation
  • Ability to complete comprehensive background, credit, and eligibility checks
