About the role

  • Independent Commercial Insurance Advisor building client portfolios for Co-operators, a Canadian commercial insurance provider. Growing business through risk advice, networking, and relationship development.

Responsibilities

  • Build and grow an independent commercial insurance advisory business
  • Partner with business owners, entrepreneurs, and organizations to understand risks
  • Provide tailored commercial insurance and risk management solutions
  • Prospect, network, and develop referral relationships in high-opportunity markets
  • Build a profitable, sustainable commercial insurance portfolio
  • Deliver proactive, advice-based service to strengthen client loyalty and retention
  • Act as a visible and professional independent representative of Co-operators
  • Continuously develop expertise in commercial insurance, business risk, and market trends
  • Manage time, priorities, and sales pipeline while pursuing business goals
  • Distribute Co-operators products under the Co-operators brand as an independent contractor

Requirements

  • Hold a valid provincial general insurance license (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Meet ongoing licensing and continuing education requirements
  • Experience in commercial or personal lines insurance
  • Experience running your own business
  • Background in financial services, banking, B2B sales, account management, or business development
  • Experience in client-facing advisory or relationship-management roles
  • Ability to build trusted relationships and convert them into sustainable business growth
  • Strong sales and business-development mindset
  • Comfort prospecting, networking, and creating opportunity
  • Clear, confident communication, strong organization, and disciplined follow-through
  • Client-first, advice-based approach to helping businesses manage risk
  • Resilience, accountability, and self-motivation
  • Ability to operate independently while upholding Co-operators' values, brand standards, and client-first approach
  • Required to complete comprehensive background, credit, and eligibility checks
