About the role
- Senior Project Specialist coordinating complex helicopter and oversized cargo shipments across air, ocean, road, and rail. Supporting customers, quotations, compliance, and end-to-end project execution for DSV.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete lifecycle of oversized, out-of-gauge, heavy-lift, and project cargo shipments from inquiry through final delivery
- Develop and coordinate end-to-end transportation solutions across air, ocean, road, rail, and multimodal transportation
- Review cargo dimensions, weight, volume, handling requirements, loading/unloading requirements, and delivery constraints
- Coordinate complex routings and select appropriate transportation modes and service solutions
- Liaise with carriers, trucking companies, terminals, ports, warehouses, customs brokers, agents, and other service providers
- Coordinate specialized equipment and services such as flat racks, open-top containers, lowboys, step decks, RGN trailers, cranes, escorts, permits, and specialized handling
- Monitor shipment milestones and resolve operational issues, delays, and changes
- Prepare quotations and analyze cost-effective routing and service options
- Obtain and evaluate rates and account for accessorial, fuel, permit, escort, handling, storage, equipment, customs, and terminal charges
- Identify margin-improvement opportunities and support sales and account management teams during customer opportunities and RFQs
- Participate in customer calls and meetings to understand requirements and present transportation solutions
- Ensure shipping, customs, transportation, and project documentation is complete and accurate
- Coordinate with customs brokers and compliance teams and ensure regulatory compliance
- Serve as an operational contact for customers managing complex or high-value shipments
- Provide shipment updates, milestone reporting, and exception management
- Visit prospective and existing clients on occasion to promote DSV’s services
- Coordinate with internal freight forwarding, pricing, customs, finance, customer service, international offices, agents, and global project teams
- Coordinate site requirements, loading plans, delivery appointments, and specialized handling
- Track shipment performance and maintain detailed project files
- Support DSV’s ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 commitments and quality, health, safety, and environmental objectives
- Follow DSV’s Quality Health Safety Environment policy, sustainability practices, and Code of Conduct
Requirements
- Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study
- 5+ years of progressive experience in project cargo, heavy haul, or specialized transportation
- Experience with all modes of transport, including air, ocean, and trucking
- Experience handling oversized shipments
- Experience preparing and analyzing complex transportation quotations
- CIFFA certificate, an asset
- Dangerous Goods Certification, an asset
- Strong experience managing oversized, out-of-gauge, heavy, or specialized cargo
- Excellent verbal and written English skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment
- Ability to work regular hours and beyond regular hours when required by business needs
- Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods while working on a computer
