About the role

  • Structures team member designing and testing UAV airframes for Queen’s Aerospace Design Team. Supporting autonomous payload aircraft for SAE Aero East competition.

Responsibilities

  • Design, manufacture, and integrate structural and mechanical systems for reliable, functional, competition-ready aircraft
  • Support development of a reliable and manufacturable fixed-wing aircraft for autonomous payload delivery and retrieval
  • Collaborate with Aerodynamics, Avionics, Software, and Testing & Propulsion teams
  • Contribute to design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of structural and mechanical systems
  • Work on airframe structures, payload systems, landing gear, control surface mechanisms, fixtures, and other aircraft assemblies
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborative assembly design
  • Integrate other sub-team systems
  • Integrate 3D-printed hardware and fastening methods

Requirements

  • Undergraduate student or student in any discipline
  • Like-minded individuals interested in advanced drone technology and student aerospace teams
  • Ability or willingness to contribute to structural and mechanical systems for aircraft
  • Interviews occur in person after the application deadline
  • Written application and interview are weighted more heavily than the resume
