About the role

  • Software Engineer owning quality for Fiscal.ai’s financial research Terminal. Debugging full-stack issues and building Playwright end-to-end tests for critical investor workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own the inbound bug pipeline for the Terminal, including Sentry issues, customer-reported problems, and self-discovered bugs
  • Reproduce, prioritize, fix, or route Terminal bugs
  • Fix bugs across the React/Next.js frontend, Cloudflare Workers backend, and data layer
  • Investigate issues to their root cause
  • Design and build the Terminal’s end-to-end Playwright test framework
  • Run end-to-end tests in CI against preview deployments
  • Expand regression coverage for financials, charting, screener, portfolio, authentication, subscriptions, and paywall flows
  • Write unit and integration tests alongside fixes
  • Create debugging guides, test conventions, and tooling for the engineering team
  • Work alongside engineers building the Terminal and Fiscal.ai data infrastructure

Requirements

  • Proficiency in TypeScript, React, Next.js
  • Hands-on experience building end-to-end test automation (Playwright preferred) and unit tests (Vitest or Jest), and running them in CI
  • Strong debugging skills across the full stack: browser devtools, network traces, server logs, error monitoring, database queries
  • Experience testing and debugging data-heavy applications where correctness matters: finance, analytics, or similar
  • Proven experience or strong interest in investing and finance
  • Ability to read an income statement, understand LTM and NTM, and recognize incorrect P/E ratio or free cash flow figures
  • Understanding of subscription tiers, entitlements, and paywalls
  • Experience or interest in AI technologies, specifically Large Language Models (LLMs), including using AI coding agents in daily workflow
  • Keen eye for design, UI, and UX
  • Based in Canada
  • Good coding and debugging ability; fixes issues directly rather than only filing tickets
  • Nice to have: Python
  • Nice to have: Cloudflare Workers, Firebase/Firestore, PostgreSQL
  • Nice to have: Highcharts or other charting libraries
  • Nice to have: Finance coursework, CFA progress, or professional investing experience
