About the role

  • Part-time QA Engineer testing SimpliCity’s municipal CMS, websites, APIs, and AI content-migration pipeline. Establishing QA processes, automation, accessibility, and migration-quality validation.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute test strategies and test cases for the platform and customer project implementations
  • Perform functional, regression, usability, cross-browser, responsive, integration, end-to-end, and API testing
  • Test incrementally during development and verify release candidates before deployment
  • Support customer User Acceptance Testing and help resolve high-priority issues before launch
  • Write and maintain automated test scripts using JavaScript or TypeScript with Playwright or Cypress
  • Recommend and set up testing tools alongside engineers
  • Define correct output for the AI content-migration pipeline and evaluate AI-generated records against source content
  • Track pipeline-handled items versus manual work
  • Validate migrated municipal content for accuracy, structure, and metadata quality
  • Test web accessibility and support WCAG 2.2 AA compliance
  • Identify, log, and track defects in Jira
  • Collaborate with leadership, design, development, customers, and team members on issue resolution and quality-focused delivery
  • Establish the QA function and processes as the first dedicated QA hire

Requirements

  • 3+ years of QA experience
  • Experience testing web application and website frontends and backend APIs manually and with automation
  • Proficiency with Playwright or Cypress
  • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman
  • SQL proficiency for database checks
  • Ability to read JavaScript, NodeJS, and ReactJS code, debug issues, and build testing tools and scripts
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 AA+ and experience testing accessibility compliance
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and written communication
  • Interest in using AI tools to improve testing coverage and quality, and ability to evaluate AI output critically
  • University degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience and certifications
  • Majority of daily hours must overlap with the team’s schedule for candidates outside British Columbia
  • Candidates must be physically located in Canada
  • Bonus: experience testing integrations and embedded third-party systems
  • Bonus: performance testing with JMeter and Google Lighthouse
  • Bonus: familiarity with web application, API, or cloud security testing
  • Bonus: familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Azure
  • Bonus: knowledge of headless or composable content management systems
  • Bonus: ISTQB, CSQA, CSTE, or accessibility-related certifications
  • Bonus: government-related or enterprise SaaS experience
