About the role
- Embedded Software Developer improving Fortinet’s FortiGate firewall UTM features. Building C/C++ software for antivirus, web filtering, data leak prevention, and anti-spam.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain software driving FortiGate's Unified Threat Management feature set
- Stay current on application-layer protocols and software development developments
- Suggest improvements within the team
- Promote best practices within the team and organization
- Provide product improvement suggestions through daily use of Fortinet firewalls
- Research, investigate, and define new technology areas to enhance existing products or guide new product directions
- Re-evaluate the design and implementation of current source code
- Develop solutions for FortiGate firewall features including Anti-Virus, Web Filter, Data Leak Prevention, and Anti-Spam
Requirements
- 3+ years of C/C++ experience
- Ability to switch focus, quickly learn new technologies, and adopt new methodologies
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience developing software in a Linux or UNIX-like environment
- Experience with TCP/IP, firewalls, and application-layer network software
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP and POSIX APIs
- Strong grasp of sockets
- Experience using source control software such as SVN or git
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Understanding of networking and security concepts is an asset
- Scripting experience with shell, Python, or Perl is a plus
- Basic understanding of Linux or UNIX-like server/system management is an asset
