About the role
- Senior Software Engineer building Grafana Cloud’s next-generation Search and Storage systems. Designing, operating, and improving reliable distributed infrastructure for observability data.
Responsibilities
- Influence the roadmap and personal career objectives
- Work with the team to deliver, iterate, and improve new features
- Drive projects from ideation through operations after customer delivery
- Contribute to open-source projects beyond the team’s direct scope
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems
- Own system reliability, performance, and availability
- Participate in on-call rotations and own operated services
- Mentor and support team members
- Participate in design discussions and collaborate with the team
- Learn the cloud product, customer needs, and large distributed-system codebase
Requirements
- Candidates must be located in Canada or the United States
- Solid experience with Go, Rust, Python, or similar programming languages
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with large distributed systems
- Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through product delivery
- Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or experience with systems engineering
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software
- Independent attitude and good communication skills
- Familiarity with Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles is a bonus
- Familiarity with on-call, operations/SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code is a bonus
