About the role
- Senior Software Engineer building Grafana Cloud’s next-generation search and storage systems. Operating reliable distributed services and contributing to Grafana’s open-source observability platform.
Responsibilities
- Influence the roadmap and personal career objectives
- Work with the team to deliver new features and iteratively improve them
- Drive projects from ideation through customer operations
- Contribute to open-source projects outside the team’s direct scope
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems
- Own system reliability, performance, and availability
- Participate in on-call rotations and own operated services
- Mentor and support team members
- Participate in design discussions and collaborate with the team
- Learn the Grafana Cloud product, customers, and large distributed-system codebase
Requirements
- Candidates must be located in Canada or the US
- Solid experience with Go, Rust, Python, or similar programming languages
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with large distributed systems
- Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through shipping to customers
- Experience developing software that runs in the cloud or experience with systems engineering
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software
- Independent attitude and good communication skills
- Motivated self-starter with a bias toward action
- Customer-focused mindset
- Ability to analyze, design, and build modular solutions, deliver MVPs, gather feedback, and iterate
- Experience with Grafana and Prometheus is a bonus
- Familiarity with on-call, operations/SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code is a bonus
