About the role
- Pharmacist overseeing sterile pharmaceutical production and quality compliance for Fresenius Kabi Canada, a global healthcare company supplying lifesaving medicines and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee production activities to ensure compliance with regulations and corporate requirements
- Direct and prioritize the production process
- Perform quality checks for batch production, including pre-production checks and final release
- Ensure accurate completion of batch records and documentation
- Supervise storing, producing, and delivering products in compliance with provincial and federal pharmacy regulations
- Apply pharmaceutical literature and Global and Local Standard Operating Procedures to pharmacy and compounding issues
- Establish, validate, and maintain quality assurance procedures and records
- Assess equipment, materials, and facility procedures and recommend changes
- Respond to drug information and pharmacy practice requests from customers, health disciplines, and company personnel
- Participate in clinical, quality improvement, inventory, validation, and process improvement initiatives
- Assist with master batch records and SOP development and review
- Assess deviations for impact on compounded products
- Perform the AQPIC role for controlled drug substances and ensure regulatory and inventory compliance
- Maintain inventory and perform cycle counting
- Develop proficiency in relevant computer systems
- Participate in training and mentoring new employees and students
- Assist with product compounding when workload requires
- Support managers and supervisors and assume additional duties as directed
Requirements
- Minimum university undergraduate degree in Pharmacy
- Licensed in the province of Ontario
- Work experience in pharmacy, hospital, or pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in a sterile compounding environment is preferred
- In-depth understanding of aseptic technique using laminar flow hoods
- Microbiology, GMP and USP 797, NAPRA standards for non-hazardous sterile compounding knowledge is an asset
- Ability to work all shifts, including morning and evening shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays
- Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously under short time constraints
- Up-to-date first aid training
- Ability to lift objects up to 20kg
