About the role

  • Pharmacy Assistant supporting patient-facing operations at University of Toronto’s Discovery Pharmacy. Handling patient intake, billing, referrals, records, and pharmacy administration.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day pharmacy operations at Discovery Pharmacy, coordinating activities effectively and efficiently
  • Receive patients incoming to Discovery Pharmacy and provide wayfinding and orientation
  • Respond to enquiries within the defined scope and redirect as appropriate
  • Resolve minor complaints and refer larger issues when appropriate
  • Collect and pass on referrals according to pharmacists' instructions
  • Perform routine data entry
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of documents and billing information
  • Submit completed claim forms to the appropriate insurance agency
  • Update and maintain patient charts
  • Follow rules and procedural instructions when opening or closing the work area

Requirements

  • College Certificate in a professional Pharmacy Assistant Program or equivalent or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum two years of experience as a professional pharmacy assistant in a community pharmacy setting
  • Experience with OHIP/ODB and insurance billing practices
  • Proficient in pharmacy management software, including Kroll system and Pharmaconnect
  • Knowledge of PHIPA and ability to maintain strict confidentiality

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and able to incorporate new and emerging office information technology
