Pharmacy Assistant processing prescriptions and coordinating specialty medication deliveries for Canadian patients. Supporting Sentrex Health Solutions’ pharmacy and patient support services remotely.
Responsibilities
Process prescriptions accurately for all programs and medications
Follow up on insurance billing issues with third-party payers and patient support programs
Provide customer service to clinic staff, nurses, and physicians by phone and email
Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and applicable Provincial College of Pharmacists requirements
Ensure safe and appropriate medication storage
Contribute to reviewing pharmacy policies and procedures
Manage and reconcile inventory, including ordering and organizing inventory and packaging supplies
Develop and maintain professional relationships with healthcare professionals, reimbursement coordinators, private payers, and patients
Arrange delivery services and couriers for on-time prescription delivery
Call patients to schedule medication refills
Attend and participate in staff meetings
Assist with other duties assigned by the pharmacist or manager within scope of practice
Work independently under pharmacist direction and collaborate within the pharmacy team
Cross-train and support other pharmacy areas as permitted by scope of practice
Requirements
Post-secondary diploma from Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician program
Minimum of 1 year experience working in a pharmacy setting
Proficiency with Kroll required
Strong computer skills in Windows environments and MS Office (Excel, Word)
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required
Ability to communicate in other languages an asset
Knowledge and understanding of specialty medications and third-party billing issues an asset
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Ability to self-manage time, set daily priorities, and multitask to meet competing deadlines
Ability to work independently and within a team
Ability to physically stand for extended periods and lift and move up to 50 pounds
