About the role

  • Pharmacy Assistant processing prescriptions and coordinating specialty medication deliveries for Canadian patients. Supporting Sentrex Health Solutions’ pharmacy and patient support services remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Process prescriptions accurately for all programs and medications
  • Follow up on insurance billing issues with third-party payers and patient support programs
  • Provide customer service to clinic staff, nurses, and physicians by phone and email
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and applicable Provincial College of Pharmacists requirements
  • Ensure safe and appropriate medication storage
  • Contribute to reviewing pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Manage and reconcile inventory, including ordering and organizing inventory and packaging supplies
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with healthcare professionals, reimbursement coordinators, private payers, and patients
  • Arrange delivery services and couriers for on-time prescription delivery
  • Call patients to schedule medication refills
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings
  • Assist with other duties assigned by the pharmacist or manager within scope of practice
  • Work independently under pharmacist direction and collaborate within the pharmacy team
  • Cross-train and support other pharmacy areas as permitted by scope of practice

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma from Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician program
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a pharmacy setting
  • Proficiency with Kroll required
  • Strong computer skills in Windows environments and MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required
  • Ability to communicate in other languages an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of specialty medications and third-party billing issues an asset
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to self-manage time, set daily priorities, and multitask to meet competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to physically stand for extended periods and lift and move up to 50 pounds
