About the role

  • Controller owning accounting, consolidation, tax, and margin analysis for ResQ’s AI-powered facilities management platform. Building scalable finance processes across Canadian and U.S. entities.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the accounting function across the Canadian parent and U.S. subsidiaries
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and consolidation across all business entities
  • Own timely and accurate monthly and annual financial close processes
  • Lead P&L and margin analysis across service lines, including cost of delivery, contractor/vendor payout economics, and margin by line
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, close processes, and accounting systems
  • Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, and cash management across all entities
  • Manage U.S. and Canadian tax obligations, including nexus research, registrations, and state and local sales tax filings and remittances
  • Develop and monitor cash flow forecasts, annual budgets, and variance analyses to support executive decision-making
  • Build accounting processes and infrastructure as ResQ scales across North America

Requirements

  • CPA designation (CPA Canada, CPA US, or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in a Controller or senior accounting role
  • Deep working knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS, specifically around services and warranty-style revenue recognition
  • Comfortable managing deferred revenue and liability accruals for service obligations, not just standard SaaS/subscription accounting
  • Direct experience with multi-entity, multi-currency, cross-border U.S.-Canada accounting and consolidation
  • Strong understanding of accounting controls, financial reporting, and close processes
  • Comfortable operating without a lot of process already built and able to build processes
  • Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills
  • Proactive attitude with demonstrated readiness to learn and navigate organizational complexities
  • Experience with modern accounting platforms or migrating off QuickBooks is a nice to have
  • Experience in a trades/field-services or home-services business is a nice to have
