Responsibilities
Create detailed design specifications for implementation of protection and control (P&C) algorithms.
Proof of concept studies using PSCAD or RTDS or MATLAB/Simulink.
Drive the root cause analysis of the incidents related to the power system protection algorithms.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues related to the algorithm, product, and other customer cases.
Author technical papers and present materials at tradeshows and conferences for GE Vernova’s products.
Assist in preparing training material and deliver training courses, where required.
Identify opportunities for patentable innovations to strengthen GE Vernova’s Intellectual Property portfolio in digital substation technologies.
Provide technical guidance, direction, and training to new engineers, specialists, technicians when required.
Analyse market trends and requirements to propose new developments in GE Vernova’s Digital Energy products.
Requirements
Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent knowledge or experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in protection and control system design and studies.
Minimum of 3 years experience in developing detailed design specifications for P&C algorithms preferably within a relay manufacturing environment.
Extensive experience in power system protection, automation, and control product development.
Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink for model-based design and power system simulation tools such as RTDS, PSCAD or ATP/EMTP.
Proven track record of publishing and presenting at industry forums and conferences.
Familiarity with industry standards and documentation procedures of electrical utilities.
Knowledge of modern protection and control and distribution automation developments and trends.
