About the role

  • Senior Power Systems Modeling & Simulation Engineer at GE Vernova designing exploratory models. Drive innovation for advanced power automation applications with a focus on system dynamics and control.

Responsibilities

  • As an expert in power system dynamics and control, you will lead the ideation, design, and validation of exploratory models.
  • Your work will shape our innovation roadmap by creating high-fidelity representations of network scenarios to test new protection, automation, and control applications.
  • Design and develop exploratory power system models (transient, steady-state, or dynamic) to simulate emerging network behaviors.
  • Translate complex concepts and protection/control philosophies into robust, high-fidelity models using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or Opal-RT.
  • Develop and validate innovative algorithms for Smart Grid control, integrating them into simulation environments.

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical engineering (specializing in power systems), renewable energy, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrable industry or research experience as an expert in power system modeling and simulation.
  • Proven experience translating complex theories into simulation-based models for R&D purposes.
  • Strong understanding of power system dynamics, protection, and control.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex theory into clean, logical, and maintainable implementations.
  • Solid understanding of professional development practices (modularity, documentation, use of version control (Git), testing, and maintenance) in a commercial project environment, whether in MATLAB/Simulink models, scripts, or custom simulation logic.
  • Experience applying relevant industry standards (IEEE/IEC) to technical designs.
