Embedded software developer building real-time C/C++ firmware for protection relays. Optimizing grid-protection performance, cybersecurity, and IEC communications.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust, real-time embedded software for microprocessor-based protection relays using C/C++
Work closely with Protection Engineers to implement complex mathematical algorithms into efficient, embedded-ready code
Optimize firmware performance for real-time execution, focusing on low-latency data processing required for protection functions and IEC 61850 communication stacks
Test and profile firmware to ensure stability under extreme grid conditions
Implement secure coding practices and security features within the firmware architecture in compliance with IEC 62443
Use AI coding assistants for embedded C/C++ generation, refactoring, and unit test scaffolding
Write precise specifications/prompts so agentic AI produces bounded, verifiable code changes
Validate AI-generated code against real-time timing and memory constraints
Apply AI-assisted static analysis for safety-critical code review
Provide informal guidance to new team members
