About the role

  • Senior Engineer for HVDC System Engineering at GE Vernova, interpreting customer requirements, designing cost-effective power solutions. Involves technical knowledge in power system engineering and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret the customer’s technical enquiry and design the most cost-effective overall solution for HVDC installation
  • Develop an integrated scheme design that meets the Customer’s needs
  • Insulation Coordination Studies and determine the temporary and transient overvoltage stresses on HV equipment
  • Manage the lifecycle of high economic value High Voltage equipment
  • Conduct Reliability, Availability and Maintainability Studies and Management
  • Create, verify, and validate the electrical power losses models for HVDC systems and subsystems
  • Report or resolve any non-conformances in a timely manner
  • Promote the identification of hazards and near misses with teams
  • Aware of Network Studies, Harmonic Analysis, RFI, EMC assessment and mitigation HVDC valves and their control systems

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical, Electronics, or Power Systems Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 8 years of proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of Power Systems Engineering and preferably in HVDC System Design/Studies
  • 20% travels to customer and/or supplier sites internationally
  • Experience executing large and complex substation/plant projects
  • Master's degree in Power Systems Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Mentoring mindset to develop and grow technical talent
  • Understanding of customer needs, problem solving, creativity and innovation, relationship management, operational oversight and accountability, engineering instinct
  • Capable of resolving points of difference, to gain advantage for an individual or collective, or crafting outcomes to satisfy various interests
  • Ability to be a team player and to facilitate group interactions
