About the role

  • Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer for the BWRX-300 SMR design, focusing on mechanical design and project support. Requires expertise in nuclear engineering with a preference for candidates who can relocate to Wilmington, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Mechanical Nuclear Island Systems (MNI) engineering activities that support the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) design
  • Overall ownership of mechanical design for the Nuclear Boiler (B21), Isolation Condenser (E52) and Fine Motion Control Rod Drive (G12) Systems
  • Construction support of the DNNP-1 SMR currently under construction by OPG
  • Procurement support of the DNNP-1 project for assigned systems
  • Conduct component and product integration
  • Manage product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down
  • Drive validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing
  • Manage interface between components and execution organizations
  • Resolve issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience in the Engineering/Technology & Systems Engineering within the nuclear industry for role in Canada
  • Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience)
  • Professional Engineering Designation in Ontario (P.eng) for roles in Canada
  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 8 years of BWR nuclear experience) for roles in USA
  • Strong preference for candidate who could relocate to Wilmington, NC
