Service Technician responsible for high-quality maintenance of snow removal equipment in Ontario. Join Alamo Group's Snow & Ice Canada team, specializing in heavy equipment solutions.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic control systems on mobile heavy equipment.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance at customer locations and within our service shop.
Conduct post-repair inspections, calibrations, and full functional testing before equipment release.
Document all repairs, findings, and corrective actions using internal digital systems.
Ensure all activities comply with strict health, safety, and environmental policies.
Provide professional, clear explanations of technical findings and service recommendations to clients.
Respond to urgent service calls and equipment breakdowns during peak operational periods (including seasonal overtime).
Provide on-site support at municipal yards, job sites, and customer depots.
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully equipped mobile service vehicle.
Accurately record labor hours, parts usage, and diagnosis details in the work order system.
Assist in warranty assessments by providing root-cause documentation and photographic evidence.
Track and communicate recurring field failure trends to the Engineering and Product Support teams.
Coordinate daily with the Service Coordinator and Parts team to ensure timely job completion.
Participate in OEM training and internal updates to stay current with new models and technologies.
Support the onboarding and technical development of junior technicians.
Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medium/heavy-duty trucks or heavy equipment.
Systems Knowledge: Hands-on expertise with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to "right-first-time" quality.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider technical team.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a desire for continuous learning.
Flexibility to travel for field service or support production as business needs require (occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required during peak season).
