About the role

  • Service Technician responsible for high-quality maintenance of snow removal equipment in Ontario. Join Alamo Group's Snow & Ice Canada team, specializing in heavy equipment solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic control systems on mobile heavy equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance at customer locations and within our service shop.
  • Conduct post-repair inspections, calibrations, and full functional testing before equipment release.
  • Document all repairs, findings, and corrective actions using internal digital systems.
  • Ensure all activities comply with strict health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Provide professional, clear explanations of technical findings and service recommendations to clients.
  • Respond to urgent service calls and equipment breakdowns during peak operational periods (including seasonal overtime).
  • Provide on-site support at municipal yards, job sites, and customer depots.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully equipped mobile service vehicle.
  • Accurately record labor hours, parts usage, and diagnosis details in the work order system.
  • Assist in warranty assessments by providing root-cause documentation and photographic evidence.
  • Track and communicate recurring field failure trends to the Engineering and Product Support teams.
  • Coordinate daily with the Service Coordinator and Parts team to ensure timely job completion.
  • Participate in OEM training and internal updates to stay current with new models and technologies.
  • Support the onboarding and technical development of junior technicians.

Requirements

  • 310T Certification: Highly preferred (Strong Asset).
  • Welding Certification: Strong asset.
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medium/heavy-duty trucks or heavy equipment.
  • Systems Knowledge: Hands-on expertise with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to "right-first-time" quality.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider technical team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a desire for continuous learning.
  • Flexibility to travel for field service or support production as business needs require (occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required during peak season).
