About the role
- Staff Mobile Engineer leading iOS and Android development for Hatch’s sleep wellness products. Driving mobile architecture, AI-assisted engineering, reliability, and team mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering development for Hatch’s iOS and Android mobile apps
- Review the existing codebase and identify immediate technical improvements
- Ship meaningful code to production
- Lead feature delivery and address production issues and improvements
- Debug cross-platform problems spanning mobile, firmware, and backend
- Build context across the full mobile platform
- Ship features, improve platform reliability, and drive daily app engagement
- Shape architectural problems and solutions with stakeholders
- Bring proposals to Mobile Strategy and Engineering Forum meetings
- Provide feedback and support for other engineers
- Work with Product, Design, QA, and stakeholders to scope, plan, and rapidly ship features
- Champion AI-assisted development practices and help teammates adopt them
- Drive business strategy through mobile initiatives and shape the mobile organization roadmap
- Evaluate and implement Hatch’s AI strategy and define development standards
Requirements
- You’ve spent 6+ years building mobile apps
- Experience with Swift/SwiftUI or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose
- Experience leading by example, writing production code, unblocking others, and leading architectural decision-making
- Experience mentoring other engineers, building trust, and creating environments where people do their best work
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with Product, Design, and engineering leaders
- Experience with modern mobile tooling, CI/CD, testing, and cloud services
- Excitement about AI-assisted development and AI applications
- Strong ownership, self-direction, and ability to ramp up quickly
- Code quality, reliability, and customer-focused product development
- Clear communication and empathetic leadership
