About the role

  • Associate Electrical Engineer contributing to the development and operation of renewable energy projects. Collaborating with Electrical Engineers on multiple aspects of project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Electrical Engineers on the design of wind, solar, and substation Surveillance, Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and support field implementation
  • Manage interconnection construction and implementation, including network upgrades and compliance with interconnection agreements
  • Draft specifications and technical documentation for EPC contracts and engineering consultants; review electrical designs and studies
  • Support bidding processes, including RFP development, proposal analysis, and technical recommendations
  • Provide technical input into major contracts, including equipment supply, power purchase agreements, and balance of plant agreements
  • Review and approve construction drawings to ensure compliance with engineering standards, construction standards, and safety codes
  • Provide technical support to the electricity reliability compliance team, including interpretation of standards and support during external audits
  • Oversee testing and electrical compliance studies during commissioning and operations
  • Provide engineering, operational, and project management support to operating facilities

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Ing./P.Eng. or CPI/EIT preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or as an Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • Renewable energy or heavy industrial experience preferred
  • Knowledge of SCADA management systems
  • Experience with the implementation of utility and industrial SCADA systems; experience with Ignition HMI, Wonderware HMI, OSI PI historian, and Canary Labs Historian is an asset
  • Experience with power systems modelling with specialized software such as DigSilent or ETAP is an asset
  • Good knowledge of technical standards (IEEE, NEMA, CSA, IEC, etc.) related to renewable energy projects, electrical substations is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles applied to renewable energy projects
  • Good understanding of the full project lifecycle (development, construction, operations)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate across departments
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Bilingualism (French and English, spoken and written) required to collaborate with stakeholders outside Quebec on a regular basis.
