About the role
- Engineering Manager leading a team of 8+ engineers in the Order Experience department at Instacart. Overseeing critical e-commerce infrastructure while driving modernization and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow an engineering organization of 8+ engineers
- Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for 10+ partner teams
- Drive platform thinking across the team by identifying modernization opportunities
- Own engineering execution end to end
- Partner closely with product, design, data science, and cross-functional engineering leaders
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in an engineering management role leading teams of 8 or more engineers
- Demonstrated experience owning and scaling backend systems in a high-traffic, production environment
- Proven ability to manage complex cross-functional dependencies
- Experience driving technical roadmaps that balance platform modernization with product delivery
- Track record of hiring, retaining, and developing engineering talent
