Fabrication Supervisor managing production schedules and workforce activities at Johnson Controls. Ensure timely execution of fabrication tasks while upholding quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the activities of fabrication.
Ensure that fabrication schedules are executed and completed on time and within budget.
Direct the fabrication workforce to achieve fabrication and production goals.
Set and update the production plan.
Monitor KPI performance indicators and develop action plans to improve trends.
Ability to read blueprints and program machining equipment to produce required parts.
Review and advise on drawing packages before and after the build.
Ability to use metal working manipulation machinery (brake, shear, saw, punch. Etc.) and train new operators in machine operation, safety procedures, and company policy.
Ensure equipment maintenance, repairs and change overs are being properly executed and Senior Production Manager notified of any malfunction.
Assistance and compliance with company inventory requirements.
Participate and enforce safety and sanitation regulations.
Participate, when required, in hiring of new department employees.
Coordinate and schedule the activities of workers in order to ensure smooth flow of productivity.
Identify, investigate, correct, and document potential environmental and safety problems.
Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other units.
Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.
Ensure production plan is being followed and production objectives are met.
Requisition materials and supplies, as required.
Prepare production and other reports.
May also co-ordinate and schedule the activities of trades workers, laborers or other workers.
Organize department and keep department clean, also clean department at the end of each workday.
Perform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
Requirements
Post secondary education in a related field is an asset.
3 or more years’ experience as a production, construction, or fabrication supervisor.
Fabrication experience preferred.
Experience with rigging, fall arrest, forklifts, and scissor lifts are assets.
Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse, and transportation management.
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Training in and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing are desirable.
Knowledge of local and federal regulations including AOHS and Employment Standards Code.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
Strong customer service orientation.
Experience in metal working or forming is an asset.
First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
