About the role

  • Bilingual Underwriting Consultant managing underwriting risk and developing client solutions at Manulife Group Benefits. Collaborating with teams to support client and organizational needs.

Responsibilities

  • establish rates and retentions for new and existing Group Benefit plans
  • provide internal account management for client requests relating to pricing and benefit changes
  • demonstrate understanding of liability associated with group benefits arrangements
  • prepare quotation submissions
  • onboard new clients and develop applications
  • work with internal partners for plan design management
  • improve operating performance for long-term financial success
  • negotiate contracts and financial arrangements

Requirements

  • communicate in English and French
  • Post-Secondary education with exceptional business, mathematical and analytical aptitude
  • deep understanding of the Group Insurance market, products, and services
  • professional risk management expertise with demonstrated work-related Underwriting experience within Group Benefits
  • proven ability to effectively partner with and support sales teams
  • excellent Microsoft Office skills with exceptional proficiency in Excel (data manipulation such as pivot tables) and Word
  • CEBS, GBA certification is encouraged and recommended
  • ability to make well-balanced decisions that take effective risk management, financial discipline and customer needs into account
  • strong business acumen with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts, analyses and results in a clear, concise manner
  • strategic and creative thinker focused on finding solutions to unique customer needs
  • confident negotiator with proven ability to build relationships and influence decision making
  • motivated self-starter and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • demonstrated ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple priorities
