About the role

  • Underwriting Associate supporting Swiss Re’s commercial property insurance underwriting operations. Preparing deal data, records, contracts, and client-meeting materials for Underwriters.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Property Underwriting team with business-processing, administrative, technical, and marketing support
  • Review, update, and maintain account information, data, records, and documentation
  • Disseminate and explain information, take direction, give instructions, and address customer complaints and queries
  • Conduct preliminary deal analysis and prepare account data for Underwriter review
  • Read, organize, and work with detailed source documents from external customer information
  • Assist Underwriters with drafting and preparing contractual documents and invoices
  • Compose business correspondence as needed
  • Support Underwriters in organizing and preparing data for client and broker meetings
  • Coordinate with Underwriting, Products, Accounting, Finance, Claims, Compliance, and Policy Processing teams
  • Interact with internal and external customers
  • Participate in special projects and potentially cross-train in other lines

Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial insurance principles and practices are a plus
  • Entry level will be considered
  • Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and algebra
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, including handling files and records
  • Knowledge of general economic and accounting principles
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and processes
  • Ability to meet established time and quality standards
  • Ability to work in globally located team situations and demonstrate sensitivity toward cultural differences
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively in a matrix environment
  • Ability to establish priorities and plan, coordinate, and monitor a personal work plan
  • Ability to maintain status and oversight of multiple submissions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent listening, reading, written, and verbal communication skills
  • French language skills would be an asset
  • Strong customer focus and service orientation
  • Adaptability to changes in tasks and priorities
  • Associate degree or equivalent is a plus
