About the role

  • Underwriting Associate supporting Engineering & Construction underwriting at Swiss Re. Preparing deal data, documentation, invoices, and client meeting materials for commercial insurance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Engineering & Construction Underwriting team with timely and accurate business-processing, administrative, technical, and marketing support
  • Review, update, and maintain account information, data, records, and documentation
  • Disseminate and explain information, take direction, give instructions, and address customer complaints and queries
  • Conduct preliminary deal analysis and prepare account data for Underwriter review
  • Read, organize, and work with detailed source documents from external customers
  • Assist Underwriters with drafting and preparing contractual documents and invoices
  • Compose business correspondence as needed
  • Support Underwriters in organizing and preparing data for client and broker meetings
  • Coordinate with Underwriting, Products, Accounting, Finance, Claims, Compliance, and Policy Processing teams
  • Interact with internal and external customers
  • Actively participate in assigned special projects

Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial insurance principles and practices are a plus
  • Entry level will be considered
  • Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform routine insurance calculations using established formulas and tools
  • Experience managing underwriting documentation, including quotes, binders, policies, and records
  • Experience supporting administrative and accounting reconciliation activities
  • Ability to deliver high-quality service and meet established quality and turnaround standards
  • Ability to work in globally located team situations with sensitivity toward cultural differences
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively in a matrix environment
  • Ability to establish priorities, plan, coordinate, and monitor a personal work plan across multiple submissions
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent listening, reading, written, and verbal communication skills
  • French language skills would be an asset
  • Strong customer focus and service orientation
  • Adaptability to changes in tasks and priorities
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent is a plus
