About the role
- Senior Full-Stack AI Engineer building secure Azure-based generative AI applications for Manulife. Delivering React, Python, API, and enterprise cloud solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build modern, cloud-based, AI-enabled applications that support business decision-making
- Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack applications, including user interfaces, APIs, backend services, and integration layers
- Design and integrate AI-enabled and Generative AI features
- Lead AI application patterns involving LLMs, prompt engineering, orchestration, RAG, semantic search, model evaluation, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop workflows
- Translate business, risk, and operational requirements into secure, scalable, maintainable, and measurable technical solutions
- Establish engineering practices for AI-enabled application lifecycle management, performance monitoring, value tracking, evaluation, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with engineers, product teams, stakeholders, risk and security partners on design, code reviews, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement
- Support modern software engineering patterns, cloud-native practices, Microsoft Azure, API-driven architectures, and AI-enabled development
- Identify reusable engineering patterns, scalable AI assets, data enrichment opportunities, and modernization paths
- Advise business, technology, risk, security, and product leaders on technical design patterns and delivery blockers
Requirements
- 7 years of industry experience in full-stack application design and development
- At least 1 year of experience in AI-enabled application delivery
- 1 year of hands-on experience with Generative and Agentic AI
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI governance, and responsible AI practices
- Strong hands-on experience with Python
- Strong experience building modern frontend and full-stack web applications using React JS
- Experience designing, building, and supporting REST APIs, backend services, microservices, and integration layers
- Experience with relational databases such as Azure SQL and PostgreSQL
- SQL query development, application integration, and data modeling concepts
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure cloud-based application development or support
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, secure coding practices, production support, logging, and monitoring capabilities
