About the role
- Data Engineer designing warehouse models, Python pipelines, and Power BI reporting for Silk & Snow’s sleep products. Transforming raw data into actionable business insights.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement dimensional and relational data models, including star and snowflake schemas
- Develop, document, and maintain transformation logic for clean, conformed, business-ready datasets
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries and dbt models for data manipulation, aggregation, and layered transformation
- Define and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and modeling best practices
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business logic into structured, reusable data models
- Evaluate and refine existing models as business needs evolve
- Design, develop, and maintain Python scripts for extracting and loading data into the data warehouse
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout data pipelines
- Identify and resolve data pipeline issues
- Document ETL processes, pipeline architecture, and data definitions
- Develop, maintain, and optimize interactive Power BI dashboards and reports
- Perform ad-hoc SQL analysis
- Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Product, and Operations to turn business questions into actionable insights
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
- 2–4 years of experience in a data-focused role, with emphasis on data engineering and/or analytics
- Experience designing dimensional models, including star/snowflake schemas
- Experience translating business requirements into logical and physical data models
- Advanced SQL proficiency, including layered CTEs, reusable views, and incremental logic
- Experience building pipelines using SQL and/or Python
- Practical experience with dbt
- Experience developing and publishing interactive dashboards in Power BI or comparable tools such as Tableau or Looker
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Google BigQuery or Azure Synapse Analytics
- Proficiency with Power BI report development and DAX formula creation
- Industry experience in e-Commerce, particularly with Shopify
- Solid Python experience for data manipulation, scripting, and ETL/ELT processes, including Pandas and SQLAlchemy
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities
- Keen attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
