About the role

  • Gas heating technician diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and installing heating systems for Irving Oil customers. Ensuring safe operation, compliance, and excellent service across Dartmouth and Truro.

Responsibilities

  • Complete customer-requested jobs and solve issues through diagnostic troubleshooting
  • Perform routine maintenance on existing systems
  • Install new equipment
  • Respond to service-related customer requests, including installations and repairs
  • Diagnose complex system problems by checking gas flow, thermostats, heat flow, and insulation
  • Analyze existing processes and recommend improvements using best practices and experience
  • Provide consultative services within the defined area
  • Participate in projects and potentially lead a stream of work
  • Identify potential threats and mitigate risk
  • Conduct final inspections to ensure repaired systems operate safely
  • Support operations within Residential Commercial Energy Services and customer needs
  • Provide status updates to the Service Manager, Fulfillment Managers, and Residential Energy Services team
  • Maintain a safe working environment according to safety policies and procedures
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Lead jobs and provide guidance and coaching to junior employees

Requirements

  • A valid Gas Technician license is required
  • Dual licensing (Oil and Gas) is an asset
  • Knowledge of wiring, plumbing and some air conditioning is required
  • 2-4 years of experience is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to install and service various types of heating equipment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
