About the role
- Engineering Manager leading Platform IAM engineers at Akamai, which powers secure cloud and edge services. Driving architecture, delivery, mentorship, and high-performing team development.
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers proficient in enterprise IAM concepts
- Provide technical guidance and set best practices for back-end architecture and development
- Partner with product management, QA, SRE, Senior Leadership, and other engineering teams to deliver cohesive user experiences
- Oversee delivery across the full project lifecycle: organizing, planning, development, testing, and release
- Drive consistency through tooling and engineering standards
- Support hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and career growth for team members
- Lead a team responsible for delivering high-quality IAM features and tools
- Coach engineers, clarify requirements, drive execution, and ensure alignment with product and SRE partners
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical direction over hands-on development
Requirements
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Solid knowledge of back-end technologies including Python
- Solid understanding and experience with large, low-latency, and highly-available distributed systems
- Experience with IAM concepts and platforms
- Clear understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and Agile planning
- Prior leadership experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Passion for building inclusive, high-performing engineering teams
