About the role
- Engineering Manager leading Slice’s DevEx platform, Kubernetes infrastructure, GitOps, and CI/CD. Improving developer productivity and reliability for technology powering independent pizzerias.
Responsibilities
- Lead Slice’s DevEx Deploy & Run team
- Partner with engineering leadership to identify developer friction and platform opportunities
- Measure and improve deployment velocity, system reliability, platform adoption, and developer productivity
- Guide architecture and technical strategy across the Internal Developer Platform, deployment workflows, and cloud infrastructure
- Build reusable patterns, self-service tooling, automation, and operational guardrails
- Give platform engineers context, decision boundaries, and meaningful ownership
- Improve platform delivery frequency, workflow standardization, observability, and operational excellence
- Hire, coach, and retain platform and software engineers
- Partner with engineering teams to drive platform adoption through collaboration and documentation
- Lead cross-functional efforts across teams in the US, Canada, UK, and Europe
Requirements
- Experience managing high-performing platform engineering teams
- Skilled at project planning/tracking and creation of team roadmaps
- Technical expertise across Kubernetes, GitOps (ArgoCD), CI/CD (GitHub Actions), Python automation, AWS, Terraform, and Datadog
- Proven track record of improving developer experience, deployment reliability, and engineering effectiveness
- Platform mindset focused on reusable systems, self-service tooling, and scalable guardrails
- Clear, direct communication across technical platform teams and product engineering stakeholders
- Comfortable leading teams working with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, cloud-native architecture, ArgoCD, GitOps, Python, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, network architecture, DNS, Cloudflare, Datadog, Terraform, and generative AI tools including LLM APIs
