About the role

  • Integration Developer building Apache Camel, Kafka, and OpenShift solutions for PLATO, Canada’s Indigenous-owned software testing and technology services company. Delivering secure enterprise integrations, APIs, and automated data exchange.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise integration solutions using Apache Camel and Enterprise Integration Patterns
  • Develop and manage Apache Kafka event-streaming solutions, including topics, producers, consumers, stream processing, and schema management
  • Design, develop, and expose APIs using Red Hat 3scale API Management
  • Deploy, configure, administer, and optimize integrations on Red Hat OpenShift, AMQ Streams, and messaging platforms
  • Integrate enterprise applications and services using REST, SOAP, databases, AMQ Broker/ActiveMQ Artemis, and SaaS platforms
  • Develop and maintain automated testing, integration validation, and CI/CD processes
  • Monitor integration health, performance, and reliability
  • Perform data transformation and mapping using JSON, XML, Avro, and XSLT
  • Collaborate with Architecture, DevOps, and application development teams
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Integration Development, Middleware Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Hands-on Apache Camel experience, including Camel K, Camel Quarkus, or Spring Boot
  • Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka, producers, consumers, event streaming, Kafka Streams, and schema-based messaging
  • Experience with Red Hat Integration technologies, AMQ Streams, Red Hat Fuse, or Camel-based solutions on OpenShift
  • Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin
  • Python experience considered an asset
  • Experience designing and consuming REST and SOAP web services, including OpenAPI/Swagger specifications
  • Strong understanding of JSON, XML, and Avro
  • Experience deploying and supporting containerized workloads using Red Hat OpenShift and/or Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
  • Secret or higher security clearance required at time of application
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional technical teams
