About the role
- Multimedia Journalist producing digital and print news for Postmedia's London Free Press. Reporting, photographing and creating video and interactive multimedia content for London readers.
Responsibilities
- Report and write stories for digital and print audiences
- Shoot photos for stories
- Tailor content to the varying needs of digital and print platforms
- Develop local story ideas daily
- Quickly pivot to other newsroom priorities as needs change
- Use social media and digital tools to identify breaking news and real-time interests of Londoners
- Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda
- File video clips for digital platforms
- Work with digital teams to create interactive content and multimedia elements
- Meet tight deadlines while producing clear, concise and engaging content
Requirements
- Journalism school graduate or candidate from a related field
- Newsroom experience is an asset
- Ability to quickly layer and prioritize needs and move up a learning curve
- Ability to write effectively in breaking news, features, short form, explainers and Q/As
- Interest in working in a daily newsroom
- Ability to find hidden story angles and develop explanatory journalism skills
- Ability to concisely convey why and how stories matter
- Experience and strength in video or podcast presentation is an asset
- A valid driver's licence and access to a personal vehicle are assets
- Resume, covering letter and work samples required for application
