About the role

  • Technical Analyst in Water & Wastewater Operations focuses on system analysis and compliance for the Peel Region. Collaborates on improvements and investigations for safe and sustainable water services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and analytical support to the Manager, Supervisors, and Forepersons of Water & Wastewater Linear and Groundwater Operations.
  • Analyze existing water systems, recommend improvements and replacements, and propose maintenance and operational strategies.
  • Conduct specialized technical investigations and studies related to operations and maintenance.
  • Conduct site investigations and analyze specific problems or proposals relating to water and wastewater operations.
  • Prepare detailed reports and drawings and make recommendations.
  • Monitor operations and maintenance programs to maintain compliance with Ministry of Environment legislation.
  • Implement programs to monitor flow and pressure within the existing infrastructure.
  • Aid with training of staff related to new technologies, equipment, procedures and field practices.
  • Inspect and certify equipment used for confined space entry, working at heights and other operational tasks.
  • Maintain inventory of regional vehicles, devices and other regional assets and materials.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Civil Technology Program from a recognized Community College.
  • May be equivalent to a minimum of 3 years related technical experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Eligibility for OACETT membership.
  • 3-5 years’ experience, and solid understanding of both water and wastewater systems and their operation.
  • MECP certification required in Water Distribution Class I and Wastewater Collection Class I.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, PeopleSoft, Hansen, FlowWorks, Prism, Crystal Reporting.
