Responsibilities
Responsible for projects of various complexity/size
Assess required work and prepare proposals
Select appropriate team for a project and inform that team of an assignment
Lead electrical engineering work on all electrical systems for a project
Present designs to clients and obtain acceptance
Coordinate development of models and working drawings utilizing BIM and AutoCAD technologies
Prepare or oversee necessary calculations and sizing
Lead preparation of project specifications, including where applicable commercial terms
Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner, contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors
Participate in value analysis and basic cost estimating
Manage the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule
Perform and oversee the performance of necessary calculations
Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects
Conduct peer reviews of project work prepared by other engineers
Lead the development of new standards, practices, and specifications for the electrical team
Work on multiple concurrent projects
Requirements
Comprehensive knowledge and application of National Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, and other applicable building and industry codes
Thorough understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry practices
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
Advanced oral and written communication skills
Good presentation and interview skills
Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD
Experience with specialty modeling software, such as AGI 32, Visual Lighting, SKM, ETAP, HOMER, etc. is an asset
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer required
Minimum of 10 years of experience preferred.
