About the role

  • Quality Supervisor leading inspections, metrology, audits, and quality personnel at Tenaris’s steel manufacturing mill. Driving product quality, reporting, and continuous improvement in Sault Ste. Marie.

Responsibilities

  • Define programs for quality verifications and inspections
  • Oversee and follow up on compliance with quality verification and inspection programs
  • Perform quality verification, final inspections, and product release
  • Lead shop floor employee support as required
  • Provide leadership and oversight for metrology activities, including internal and external calibrations
  • Lead, coordinate, and develop shop floor quality personnel, including General Inspectors and FICO employees
  • Manage inspection workloads, competency development, and adherence to quality, safety, and operational objectives
  • Network with operative areas to understand daily challenges and provide real-time quality support and dispositions
  • Consolidate and communicate mill quality topics in management meetings
  • Perform root cause analysis and analyze large data sets to draw conclusions and propose improvements or material dispositions
  • Generate department activity reports, including analysis of findings and quality output
  • Contribute to training professionals and trainees
  • Ensure effective implementation of the quality management system by reviewing and amending local procedures and work instructions
  • Perform internal quality audits in accordance with ISO 9001 and API Q1
  • Write technical reports
  • Monitor HSE activities and support safety-related objectives and activities

Requirements

  • 5 years or more of industrial experience
  • Knowledge of premium and API connections and/or OCTG working experience considered a strong asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Equivalent experience considered
  • Previous supervisory experience considered a strong asset
  • Strong aptitude for data analytics
  • Experience working within an established quality system, preferably with an ISO- or API-certified company
  • Knowledge and experience with NDE methods and ANST certifications considered an asset
  • Internal quality audit experience or understanding of the concept considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge and experience with metrology, calibration, and equipment verification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and InfoPath
  • Exposure to Power BI
  • Flexibility based on business needs
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
