About the role
- AI reporter for The Globe and Mail, Canada’s national news organization, covering technology’s business and human impact. Breaking news and producing enterprise stories, profiles, and multimedia features.
Responsibilities
- Pitch compelling story ideas explaining the impact of AI and technology
- Develop sources to break news and produce exclusive stories
- Write vivid profiles and features
- Write clearly and meet deadlines
- Brainstorm story ideas and storytelling approaches with colleagues across the department and newsroom
- Experiment with formats including live blogs, newsletters, video and audio
- Participate in Globe subscriber events
- Collaborate with reporters and editors across the newsroom to deliver authoritative coverage of AI and technology
- Report to the AI and technology editor as part of the Report on Business section
Requirements
- At least five years’ experience as a reporter in a daily news organization
- Solid news judgment and a track record of enterprise work
- Big-picture thinking and ability to connect dots into larger stories
- Reader-centric approach
- Portfolio demonstrating news, enterprise and feature writing focused on business and technology
- Comfortable working in live blogs, newsletters, video and audio
- Collaborative mindset and commitment to helping team members succeed
- Cover letter with three links to previous work
- Resume written by the candidate, not AI
