About the role

AI reporter for The Globe and Mail, Canada’s national news organization, covering technology’s business and human impact. Breaking news and producing enterprise stories, profiles, and multimedia features.

Responsibilities

Pitch compelling story ideas explaining the impact of AI and technology
Develop sources to break news and produce exclusive stories
Write vivid profiles and features
Write clearly and meet deadlines
Brainstorm story ideas and storytelling approaches with colleagues across the department and newsroom
Experiment with formats including live blogs, newsletters, video and audio
Participate in Globe subscriber events
Collaborate with reporters and editors across the newsroom to deliver authoritative coverage of AI and technology
Report to the AI and technology editor as part of the Report on Business section

At least five years’ experience as a reporter in a daily news organization
Solid news judgment and a track record of enterprise work
Big-picture thinking and ability to connect dots into larger stories
Reader-centric approach
Portfolio demonstrating news, enterprise and feature writing focused on business and technology
Comfortable working in live blogs, newsletters, video and audio
Collaborative mindset and commitment to helping team members succeed
