About the role
- Sports Reporter delivering breaking and investigative multimedia sports journalism for Reuters, the global news provider. Producing text, video and picture stories for digital and broadcast audiences.
Responsibilities
- Operate as a fully multimedia journalist across text, video and pictures
- Deliver breaking news with speed and accuracy across multiple sports and coverage areas
- Produce deeper investigative stories for Reuters subscribers, including media clients and financial specialists
- Work closely with the visuals department on news editing and story planning
- Break news and deliver fast, accurate, compelling sports stories for a global audience
- Write clean, authoritative copy under deadline pressure, from match reports to enterprise pieces
- Collaborate with video producers, picture editors and graphics teams on integrated, multi-platform storytelling
- Provide on-camera analysis when required
- Identify visual elements and coordinate pictures and video to enhance reporting
- Adapt stories for digital platforms with strong headlines and audience engagement
- Contribute ideas across text, video and live digital coverage
- Report to the Global Sports Editor
Requirements
- Outstanding knowledge of international sport
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Demonstrated track record of leading impactful and innovative sports journalism
- Deep knowledge of global sport
- Strong instinct for what matters in live competition
- Experience filing fast, accurate copy in a breaking news environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across different platforms and regions
- Commitment to Reuters Trust Principles: independence, integrity and freedom from bias
- Familiarity with business and financial aspects of sports is a plus
- Flexibility and commitment to work a rotating shift system including weekends, afternoons, evenings and some travel
