About the role
- Senior Software Engineer building AI-assisted design-to-code workflows for Thumbtack, a home-services marketplace. Connecting Figma, React components, prototypes, and production frontend tooling.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI-assisted workflows using tools such as Claude Code and Figma MCP
- Move work between Figma, prototypes, and the production frontend codebase
- Partner with Product Design on patterns, components, and workflows
- Evolve Thumbprint, Thumbtack’s design system, with machine-readable documentation and MCP-friendly component metadata
- Integrate Thumbprint with the prototyping platform
- Partner with Developer Experience on AI agent and tooling foundations
- Partner with Frontend Infrastructure on the web stack
- Run office hours and gather feedback from engineers and designers
- Prioritize and ship improvements to product teams’ idea-to-production workflow
- Prototype and evaluate emerging AI development tools and recommend what Thumbtack should adopt and scale
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a frontend engineer building production product surfaces
- Systems-thinking ability to reason about tooling, workflows, and platforms
- Deep hands-on fluency with TypeScript and React
- Experience with build, test, and deploy tools surrounding the modern web stack
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex
- Considered opinions about the limits, applications, and scaling of AI-assisted development tools
- Track record of building tools and infrastructure adopted by engineers or non-engineers
- Judgment about onboarding, documentation, and feedback loops that support adoption
- Strong cross-functional collaboration with designers, PMs, and partner engineering teams
- 6+ years of industry experience in software engineering
