About the role
- Controller evolving turbopuffer's finance function through AI-native ERP, billing, and accounting automation. Owning close, compliance, payroll, forecasting, and finance systems with the CFO.
Responsibilities
- Own month-end close and reporting, including variance analysis and statement preparation
- Lead ERP migration to an AI-native platform, with full oversight of system design and configuration
- Expand the AI orchestration layer for finance so repeatable work goes to agents
- Serve as the default billing systems lead and oversee billing operations day to day
- Oversee multi-country payroll and benefits, commissions, and equity management
- Coordinate with external providers to ensure global corporate and sales tax compliance
- Maintain an audit-ready posture and ensure appropriate controls and memos are in place
- Coordinate agents to run transactional accounting while retaining ultimate ownership
- Collaborate on financial planning and maintain rolling forecasts
- Handle various ad hoc projects
- Work directly with the CFO
Requirements
- CPA with deep US GAAP accounting experience, ideally forged in an audited environment
- Progressive experience at previous high-growth tech startups
- Ability to rapidly context shift and rebalance priorities based on business needs
- Proven track record of deploying and configuring AI agents to automate complex tasks
- Deep understanding of cloud architecture and associated billing and margin analysis (nice to have)
- Proficient in multi-entity rollups and international expansion (nice to have)
- SQL, Python, or general coding experience (nice to have)
